Failure to focus on his job because of legal distractions resulted in 9/11????????.....Take a minute out of your busy schedule and explain how that played into the decision to not provide troops on the ground the equipment they requested in Somalia?....Tell me what message pulling out of that hellhole with the warlord aideed still in power sent to our potential enemies around the world.

The images of those American Soldiers being drug naked through the streets of Mogadishu should have provided enough focus for even the weakest of Presidents to grow a bit of spine. ....Just how far off was his focus in the fall of 93?

You are saying that wholly unqualified individuals should be left on the job once in it, so long as they aren't completely murderous and insane. That, Ann, is TOO LOW OF A STANDARD you are accepting. Period!, you simply Have to agree, I'd think, when you think about it.

Sept. 11 may have been partly a result of Clinton's legal troubles(basically, he had 8 years of being on the defense due to his deficiencies and the thus just attacks leveled against him) distracting him from doing such right things as diligently fighting terrorism, as another has just rather accurately outlined in replying to you here. But even if that's accurate, the root of 911 was a clash between a rabidly strict and soured religious culture, and the rest of the world(if especially America).

In other words, it goes far beyond Clinton's failures, regardless the root of those failures. Even if Clinton had supported America as he should have, even if we were as tough as tough can be, and strong in the face of distraction, odds are, because of the root nature of the problem, that we'd face a 911 anyway in time...I don't care if G.I Joe Rocky Swartzenegger were President!(remember him?) for the last 20 years let alone just a few with a guy distracted by legal problems- it would have happened in these times.

I wouldn't put the blame on Sept 11 on the Clinton Admin, the Bush Admin ignored plenty of warnings for seven months and was asleep at the switch on dday. So the blame lies on the mostly our intelligence and military community for worrying about the wrong things and not paying attention
