He is putting on a special kind of show in order to fool you and others, it seems clear to me, and it seems to me he has succeeded, with some. He wants retroactively to redefine what he did in the Poet case as Teasin'. Just Good Clean Fun! Reverse psychology! What a cutup he is! Just one prank after another! Funfunfun! He has to know perfectly well that he emerged from the orgy of piling unwelcome attentions on Poet, and implying that he had compromising PM's and emails from her, looking appalling to everyone; and then there were the truly vile, repeated lies about Poet having spoken against "our young men in uniform." No one defended him, once it became completely clear he could not offer a single bit of evidence, and that his claim in fact was the opposite of her views, which were there for all to read. What kind of man makes up stuff like that? One with a fixation, I'd say. (For that matter, what kind of man, even if he had actual transcripts of hot cybersex with some woman, would threaten her with public exposure? Would come onto a chat thread and tell everyone ? A cad, that's what kind. This is a case in which even if his claims had been true, maybe especially if they had been true, truth was no defense.) Remember, CH's unwelcome attentions to Poet, attentions he was so determined to give her that on IHub he discussed a lawsuit against SI and succeeded with that threat in getting back the right to post unwelcome posts to her, ignoring her pleas to leave her alone, were not considered at the time amusing to anyone. I don't recall you or anyone else defending them. I remember many remarks by people saying "Why do you keep posting to someone after they ask you to stop?" And no one at all defended the calumny he made about Poet's bad-mouthing "our young men in uniform." Because she didn't do it. She didn't do it, Greg. He made it up. He succeeded in upsetting her greatly by it, as was surely his desire, and I felt so bad for her that I spent a good deal of time here to be sure it was clear to all that he could not show a single post of hers oppose to either our "young men in uniform," or to our military response to September 11. But now... He's got in his camp those who feel more comfortable pretending he was just a silly, funny, jokester-dude than admitting he was inappropriate in the extreme, and a cad, and joining in his project of revising what happened. CH is making stuff up about having a sexual relationship with YYB because it could be taken as a joke. (No woman would think the joke funny if she were its unwilling subject, btw.) Those who are motivated to do so can kind of obscure the line between the YYB events, which are annoying to YYB but not remotely as horrifying and upsetting as were his untruths and insinuations and his creepy behavior that made him look like an obsessed stalker, to Poet. Everyone knows now that CH's unwelcome sexual innuendo about YYB is untrue because she has given him permission to post any PM of hers. Now he will come on and say, "I was just jokin', I'm such a tease, doesn't anybody have a sense of humor any more?!" And hope the claim seems true in the minds of the threadsters where the persecution of Poet was concerned, too. I think I'll stop peeking in here. It's so not fun.
