Intel is the market leader if you ignore FASL, although it's combined sales might have slipped behind Intel. Still it would be close.

---Ah..... So AMD needs a "partnership". Doesn't sound like "Leadership" to me.

Intel has done a good job of moving StrataFlash to 0.13 micron, and integrating an XScale with the flash was certainly an achievement. But that doesn't make Intel the undisputed leader in the market. AMD leads Intel in the automotive industry because environmental concerns.

---Environmental concerns??? I hope you have a link, since I happen to know that intel is the EXCLUSIVE supplier of automotive computer parts to Ford Motor Company, so I'm sure the EPA would be interested in your "Claim". And everyone knows, Automotive is embedded commodity parts, and is small potatoes.

AMD also has a large part of the networking market because of it's better performance in speed and erase cycles. MirrorBit won't be on the market for another 2 quarters, but that should tackle StrataFlash's only advantages in cost per bit and density.

---I think that Cost Per Bit and Density are more important than "Erase Cycles", and I haven't seen any "speed data" to prove your other point. Sounds like you are admitting that intel is currently in the Lead. How much further along will intel be on 0.13u in 2 quarters? Shrink number 2.... number 3?

Of course, your definition likely varies, but what else is new?

---My definition? I simply posted some links where OTHERS were calling intel the leader. Don't kill the messenger just because you don't like the message.
