Those situations can & have occurred when extreme philosophies gain power. It's not a completely black & white situation.....there are many shades of gray. If the answers to lifes probelms were so simple.....we would be living in paradise. The reason religion is so popular with the masses is because it seems to provide simple answers to complex questions. sort of like a snake oil salesman. Both take advantage of human nature & swindle gullible people
