I think the markets are saying that the mindless, "Don't worry, be happy," "just do the Macarena" days of the Clinton/Gore anything goes bubble are over. Too bad Clinton/Gore got away with it for their entire term.

And hardly coincidence that Clinton timed regulation FD and all sorts of other administrative tightenings to become effective only at the end of his term, when their effects would be felt afterwards. What a mf'er.

I'd chalk it up more to demolib hysteria over corporate reporting.
