OT >"the Cold War catalyzed the fall of the largest oppressive totalitarian regime ever" Better to argue this one on another thread, 4th, Subject 51724 but a contrary view: that regime was a failed one, and would have tottered to its demise if we hadn't lifted a finger. In fact, had we let them absorb Afghanistan et al they would have fallen faster. We can save hundreds of billions and lots of lives minding our own store, creating a safe and prosperous (and honest, we hope!) country, and let the unfortunate countries solve their own problems, which only they can do anyway.
