ROFLMAO!! Sorry Jerome-- it was the crooks at ENE. They TRIED to buy BOTH partys. Thankfully Clinton/Gore were not in or they may have been successful. <<"10s of thousands ...almost ruined">> may be a bit overstated. Do I feel sorry for the greedy fool that was advised to diversify and did not? Hell no! Many were bit-- those "almost ruined" were stupid and greedy. Feel sorry for those that held M-funds that did not flush it fast enough. Feel sorry for those that lost their job at ene or downstream, feel sorry for every share lost in retirement accts LESS than 5 years as all others could have been sold. Feel sorry for greed and stupidity?? No way! Blame others for the losers stupidity-- makes no more sense than blaming me for you being a sore losing Dem,,LOL!

Jerome, you and I have had similar views on many things, but this one isn't one of them.

Your comments border on a personal attack against people who happen to laugh at the conspiract theory. You forget Clinton's role in locking up the coal oligopoly for his Malaysian friends...and the Dems covering that up. Not to mention Babbitt's use of the Interior department to feed contracts to his family and friends' firms.

The sword cuts both ways. In this case, however, there is no clear conspiracy. If there were, ENE would still be in business as the Admin signed bill after bill to save the company, or saved the top brass and covered up for them.

Admit it...this Admin is admirable in its distancing from ENE. They have covered up nothing, have actively sought out the men running the company for questioning, and they are engaging in active investigation. There is nothing to hide, Bush knows it, and while Ashcroft and others have recused themselves....the Dems know that was the right thing to do.

Funny how Lieberman, who received considerable (though less) funds from ENE, has NOT recused himself. I guess it's all a matter of opinion, but the fact that NOBODY has found a smoking gun is making the Dems even angrier than they've ever been. Because they know they are beginning to look stupid, and the latest poll results show it. People are getting pissed at their attempts to link this Admin to ENE - with LESS evidence of it than Whitewater. Yet the latest survey by media watchdog firms have shown that ENE is getting twice the coverage that Whitewater did. So, if anything is there....we should find it...yes? Yet we haven't.

Food for thought.
