Good point. That makes alot of sense until CDMA and GSM networks are both available nationwide in China. There is legislation in the US right now to protect customers wireless phone numbers so they can keep their number when they switch carriers. This level of consumer protection is provided for wired phones but not wireless.

It is the dream of every QCOM shareholder to get this legislation passed. Then, all the ATT customers can finally switch to CDMA. Thanks to 1xRTT and 1xEV Rev 1, there will be more than enough capacity for PCS and ATT customers on the same network.

Maybe Nextel could do this - Scrap their wireless network, do a joint venture with VZ or PCS, and upgrade the Direct Connect to 1xEV DV.
