Paul, only you could see the Alchemy acquisition as a negative.

Constantine, all acquisitions have to be looked at with a "show me" attitude. If the company being acquired is that good, why do they need to be acquired? It is not easy to integrate a new company, that might be remotely located, and most probably has a different culture, into the fold. That's not even getting to addressing the match re products. You can ask companies like IBM, Intel and Cisco about companies they bought that didn't work out at all.

At best, acquisition of a company is a wait and see situation. Also, was it a friendly buyout?

Grub - Re: "only you could see the Alchemy acquisition as a negative."

It is.

First, it shows AMD has absolutely NO VISION - they sniff around to see what Intel is successful at, then they try to get into Intel's markets.

When Intel is established in these markets (as it is in StrongArm), AMD will get their head bashed in.

On top of that, this company has no revenue, they blew through all their VC money, their product choice (MIPs) was a mistake because ARM seems to be the processor-of-chpoice these days for low power/high performance CPUS - thanks in large part to Intel's success.

AMD will just burn through more money - enjoy the losses, Grub !!
