wbmw, I think AMD did not want to follow Intel to Arm for two reasons. One they don't want to follow Intel anywhere anymore, two they probably think that there's a big enough market out there to accomodate more than one architecture and enough oems probably think so too. To only have one architecture will make everyone Intel distributors like what's happening right now with Dell in the PC world.
