Sorry, Tim, I don't care who Kleck is, I don't buy those statistics. I don't buy the numbers from the surveys with lower figures either. I think its American fantasy at its best.

Well those are the only at least semi-objective numbers that we have. I'd use the lowest figure of 400,000 per year for argument if you want. I might even consider half of that (and less then one tenth of the highest figure) or 200,000. But if you are totally unwilling to recognize significant defensive uses of guns or present solid stats that support your contention that all of these surveys where wrong then we have pretty much reached a dead end.

Also even if they are wrong they are not fantasy but are based on the best research available, there could be a reason why all of the research in this area is all flawed but I don't think this should be the default assumption.
