A new customer for Intel:

Sun Micro to roll out new low-end Linux servers
SAN FRANCISCO, Feb 7 (Reuters) - Network computer maker Sun Microsystems Inc. (NasdaqNM:SUNW - news) said on Thursday it planned to launch a new line of low-end servers based on the upstart Linux operating system rather than its leading proprietary system.

Sun also said it would also extend software and services support for Linux, which is freely available, developed collaboratively by engineers worldwide, and increasingly popular with corporations aiming to cut costs.

Sun dipped its toes into Linux about a year ago with a line of ``appliance'' servers intended for single tasks, like handling a small business's e-mail, and it said in a statement Thursday it would also extend that appliance line.

Analysts have consistently seen Linux encroaching on Sun's Solaris operating system, although Sun argues Linux threatens Microsoft Corp. (NasdaqNM:MSFT - news) and is a more of a low-end operating system than Solaris.

Sun made the announcement during its annual analyst conference in San Francisco. It gave no release date for the new server line, which will use so-called ``x86'' microchips made popular by Intel Corp. (NasdaqNM:INTC - news).

Paul, it's not a contest. I was merely pointing out a fact since you guys are firm believers that Intel is "trailblazing" into PDA cpu territory. You guys are funny, you are more delusional than the 'roids you are so fondly make fun of.
