Well, I would have to be more acquainted with the actual legislation on the table, but I can venture some things. For one, the manpower advantage of unions: there is never given a dollar valuation counted against their contribution limit. For another, there is obviously no way to prevent groups like the Sierra Club from making issue oriented ads that may affect an election, but there are fewer such advocacy groups on the Right. Since Democrats are the comparatively activist party, they have more goodies to promise voters. Since more activists are Democrats, because they hope for government largesse, there is a huge pool of young people working or volunteering for these advocacy organizations, who are more than willing to lend themselves to campaigning without pay, especially in get- out- the- vote efforts. That sort of thing......
