Constantine, Re: "don't take this the wrong way but I've had experience with having software designed/developed by teams abroad (Israel) with central control in the US. It never worked right. Software was always late, not exactly as spec'ed out and buggy."

There is no "right" way of taking that kind of a comment. Some of the smartest people on Earth come from that region of the planet, and just because you had a few bad experiences, doesn't mean you can predict the quality of the entire race of people over there.

Re: "Wasn't the predecessor to Banias also designed the same way? What happened to that?"

The same team working on Banias also worked on Timna, which was a completely finished product before it became apparent that the only memory technology supported by the integrated memory controller (everyone's beloved RDRAM) was never going to be widely accepted by the market. Timna was therefore cancelled, but I'm sure that some of the work done went on to create Banias.

All that I can say is that if you are expecting a loss due to the race of the people creating the product, then I hope you are unpleasantly surprised at the launch.
