hey right...let's talk Colvin...just make a CD of her stuff alone and I'm in the Valentine mood <grin>.
How about that coolio cover she does..."Every Little Thing (HE) does Is Magic"

she's at some sort of fundraiser/ awareness thing tonight. She rarely plays live here except for these types of shows. It's at the DELL church/synagogue thing

I'd be happy to oblige with a MP3 of such if'n anyone wants to twist my arm<g>

Great suggestion on the Colvin tune. I don't know her music well; I saw her at a club about 10 or 15 years ago and was so unimpressed that I never looked into her music. Part of the problem was that she was the headliner, though most of the audience had come to see Chris Smither, who was the opening act. Compared with his singing, songwriting, and especially guitar-playing, she came off as a typical modestly talented performer of the type that you can see at any local open-mike session. Adding to that impression was Mary Chapin Carpenter, who happened to be in the audience and joined her onstage for a couple of numbers. One of them was "Quittin' Time" (hmm, could be the start of an anti-Valentine CD) and she just blew away Shawn Colvin.

However, over the years I've heard a few of her tunes and found myself liking them, though IMO they sound better when sung by a truly outstanding singer like Maura O'Connell, whose version of "I Don't Know Why" (I didn't know Shawn Colvin wrote it 'til you suggested that one) goes on the CD.
