NEW YORK (CNN/Money) - Technology shares dropped again Wednesday for a fourth straight session led by losses in Internet, software and wireless issues.

The tech-heavy Nasdaq composite index fell 25.80 points to close at 1,812.71.

In a surprise disclosure ahead of its earnings report due after the closing bell on Wall Street, networking equipment provider Cisco Systems (CSCO: up $0.11 to $18.61, Research, Estimates) said it would exceed Wall Street average estimates for its second-quarter earnings per share and revenue.

The company inadvertently told a number of employees that the company exceeded its goal for booked product orders, saying they came in at $3.9 billion in the quarter, above an internal goal of $3.75 billion.
