Semi,
you know Intel has had many opportunities to sponsor race car drivers in the past. The Pro side is that race car drivers have big fan bases worldwide and particular strength in Europe. The Con side is that these guys occasionally run into walls and die.

I think Intel has passed on most offers to sponsor these guys for that downside reason - you don't want your spokesperson rolled away on a stretcher on network TV.

Sponsoring an F1 team is $10M to $20M per year... hard to see how that is a smart investment for AMD. The usual justification for this kind of expense is that it gives sales people an opportunity to shmooze big customers. But usually it's just a boondoggle for the top execs in the sponsoring company.
