Since semiconductor equipment stocks have a tendency to run up in advance of AMAT earnings (Tuesday after the close), that should help us get to that high 1800s area. The sector often sells off in the days following the announcement, though.

Zeev, I've got to hand it to you - today and yesterday were excruciating days for people trying to make long bucks. You caught most of those falling knives without much of a mark on you. We bounced about half-way between your 1793 and lots of other people's 1750, so that was a nice compromise to insure nobody got it right <G>.

Actually, some of those were like falling chainsaws <G>.

Zeev: I see no magic support at 1772 today and thus think this is a bounce/rally of limited power and duration. I see the bounce/rally carrying over into Monday and possibly part of Tuesday with a maximum upside target of 1840 - 1850.

Zeev

"one must admit there was a "touch and go situation there when we were bouncing against 1870 that the "very unlikely" scenario of a black Monday was looming, luckily, we held all day well above the 15 naz points decline which would have trigered a "to the hills" call"
Why did you expect a Black Monday post a Fridays close below 1865? Where in your mind is the support line below 1865. Would it be wrong to assume the next support would be 1840-1850 although weeker;considering the marketeers do not really want a wash out they would rally this point. This market has moved too far too fast in either direction since Jan 1. The swings here when played right should be making the "king-pins" rather rich. I am assuming this is really the game they want played here.
sorry for the rambling thoughts.
