Executive pay is often determined by a " Compensation Committee" outside of management. They would consider the value of the company , gross sales, number of employees, etc.. Observe what comparable companies pay for ( Bill Gates, Armstrong, Ellison, Waitt) and recommend pay for your company Executives. Might even toss in a COL raise ! . An earnings loss just makes Executives jobs more difficult- perhaps deserving of a raise to compensate for the mental anguish of having to fire people. Sig
