<<< This incredible model that has forced all the others into the red is why you
and so many believe in that long term view..>>>.

Lets see how Dell Model compares with other models

(From 1st quarter to 4 th)
Reference Dell Model:
Rev down $1.2 bil, earn up $28mm to $429mm

Ford Model A:
Last 4 quarters sales down $6.3 bil, earn down $1.76 bil
Not good.

Walmart Model:
Sales down $4 bil, earn down $0.5 bil

BRKA Model B
Rev down $3.2bil, earn down $1.7 bil

HP Model
Rev down $3.1 bil, earn down $0.8 bil

GM Model
Rev down $4 bil, earn down $0.45 bil

These 5 models combined lost $871 mm in the last quarter
While Dell made $429 mm

Conclusions:
1. If the 5 companies were as good as Dell, they would have made $8.6 Bil in the 4 th quarter instead of losing 871 mm
2. Dell is worth more than Walmart, GM, Ford, Berkshire Hathaway and HWP combined.
( but maybe not as much as Wmt alone (price $59),since they did very well- considering)
Sig

RE:Kemble:Sig's stuff was very interesting on the comparisons-RE:DELL-Volume expanded pretty well on DELL late Friday as the stk price appreciated "could be more than short's covering"- -maybe all the negative has been played out-"one never knows"-I'm hoping DELL will keep the German Schneider muzzled-"he really is a wet blanket" (no sense of style or humor)-I have Scottish blood and a wife with German but man that guy is a real work of art -every time he pops off it is a downer ( maybe Michael D is trying to drive the stock down for lower strike prices?-Our best to you and all.

Kemble,

Re: "RE: How in the hell can DN prognosticate three months forward based on what MSFT and CSCO have said in their "low-balling" forward statements-all playing the MSFT card now!Buy the bull!"

I'll play the contrarian for a second. I don't remember each statement Niles, Fortuna, Kumar, etc make, but it seems like for the past few quarters when they have made a statement a week or two prior to earnings day, they have been correct. It seems more than a coincidence that two analysts should make identical statements one week prior to earnings. Maybe DELL is feeding them forward statements about guidance to buffer an irrational price decline if they say flat eps and sequentially down revenue for next Q. Who knows what's going on. Those who can't look beyond next Q will sell, but if DELL says sequentially down revenues, can you imagine the hurt other companies are experiencing?

Re: "This incredible model that has forced all the others into the red is why you and so many believe in that long term view...That's why I'm long, that's why you're long..."

Kemble, this is why I'm long with the greater % of my shares, and why Jill and I felt confident enough to put a binder on a new home construction this afternoon!!!

Cheers,
K
