Miracle, maybe?

The same happened in the north at Degania, where the first tank in a Syrian column was stopped with a Molotov cocktail and the rest turned tail.

The US and Western Europe had a formal arm embargo on the region, the eastern block did not, and Chechoslovakia sold the new state its first arms

In typical Zeev manner, you slickly omit the crucial detail that there was a British Mandate embargo on arms being brought INTO PALESTINE. The Israelis smuggled weapons in violation of the British embargo, unlike the Palestinians of that time. It was not unlike the ship recently seized by Israel (illegally seized in international waters) which was ostensibly bringing weapons to the Palestinians. However, to Zionists like you, the currrent Palestinians are "terrorists", whereas the Zionists were "freedom fighters".
