arun, I learn a lot from your contributions. I have been to India and I have experienced firsthand the large "middle class state-within-the state" - more doctors, programmers, "whatnots" than just about any, e.g. European, country.
India and China will provide such a large part of our combined brain power in the near future.

Thanks
Lars

33 million Cable TV Households.
70 million television households.
40,000 Cable Operators.
Average monthly subscription rate of Rs 100 ($2)

This seems to be a minimum starting size for a cell-phone market. The per month charges for cable are lower than for cell-phones....but I think communications needs will generarlly take precendence over entertainment needs if push comes to shove.
