pcstel, a couple of years ago, I was talking about overvaluation on the CSCO and LSI threads. Nope, it was of no use. I couldn't get one soul to agree with me! And sometime later, when I went back, I was told that I was the one that was wrong because based on the trend at that time, all that optimism was justified and my warnings were misplaced. Go figure!

Re: dividends, I agree about the tobacco stocks. Specifically MO. One can also look at REITs like WRE. As far as the markets are concerned, Buy and Hold is not the way. Look at the Nasdaq rallies of 41% and 44% in the last year. Yet what did the index do over the full year. Down 21%. Tech stocks in particular are good only as trading vehicles. Anybody who thinks that they are great long-term buys right now, will underperform treasuries over long periods of time, if they don't get their heads handed to them, that is.
