Actually, enigma, ...the French have historically been a thorn in our side but someone else here brought up that they are in flux now and turning more conservative, less socialist. I believe you will find more French citizens are no longer blindly following people like Patton (he doesn't deserve the name). That's true of Germany and several other European countries. Europe is in flux, give them time to get their act together. They'll get there. ...and don't let these socialists get under your skin. Their time is limited in power.

"we have saved their butts from annihilation twice in Europe, and covered their butts as they ran away from Viet Nam." You and many other people seem to thing that we were the only participant in WWII against the Axis. We had a lot of help from our friends including France and Russia. It is estimated the Russians lost about 20,000,000 people in the war. I think we lost about 300K. Also, the Brits held the western front alone and then had equal participation in D-Day and thereafter. As for France we may still be part of the British Empire if not for them. Also we did not "cover" their butts in Viet Nam...in the end of their segment Eisenhower provided financial backing, they provided bodies. You seem also to forget, we ran away from Nam.....
