You should charge Arafat for your strategic consulting:

LOL!!! No doubt... if he can afford to spend a $10-15 million on some weapons that wind up getting confiscated, I should charge him for that suggestion... :0)

Makes one wonder at times if Arafat, or one of his close advisors, might be actually perusing this thread trolling desperately for some ideas they can call their own... :0)

I can see it now... Burning the midnight oil over in Ramallah, sweat pouring down their brows, scraping the bottom of the barrel for ideas,.... and then they see my post.

Mission accomplished. You can't get scrape much lower than my own observations on the Mid-East... :0)

And of course, we'll likely eventually "blink" and just accept his denials in order to try and save the peace process, while Arabs will actually believe that it's a Jewish conspiracy, because it's easier to do so..

And Arafat will still come out smelling like a somewhat sullied rose...

Arafat said he still had a working relationship with Washington, and that he was indispensable to efforts to negotiate a halt to violence in which at least 836 Palestinians and 256 Israelis have been killed since September 2000.

``The alternative to me are Palestinian lions who face Israeli tanks with rocks, and are ready to martyr themselves in front of them,'' he said.

The self-delusion is staggering. Arafat is not shunned by US leaders only to maintain the Saudi relationship (now that I understand better the ties there), not out of a rejection of Sharon's attempts to get us to cut off YA completely.

Rather than be content to survive another day, he struts around the barnyard crowing "the Israelis dunnit", which I'm sure even makes Powell grit his teeth. Then he tops it off by giving kudos to the martyrs who throw stones at tanks, which is the whole intifada/sympathy ploy rehashed for the zillionth time.

Criminy, I long for some good old-fashioned 'Vito power'. Can't somebody send the Sopranos in to slap him around a bit and ask "Ay! W'samatta wid you, you stoopid or sumpin?'

Sometimes he seems so out of touch with reality that it is shocking to the extreme.
