You can buy News Corporation stock as a proxy for the US stock market (though UK and other countries also influences its earnings). That wouldn't have been a good move at the height of dot.com mania. The other two big dual listed stocks here are RTZ and BHP-Billiton - mining.... National Australia Bank is a multinational but its foreign operations are unsuccessful... could go on. You can buy managed funds (mutual funds) invested in foreign stocks and bonds. Each of them has a different hedging policy. I talked with one fund's representative on the phone and he really didn't want to tell me what his hedging policy was without paying him a 3% entry fee (through my broker I could avoid it)....

Actually quite a lot of farmers are more sophisticated in this area than cityfolk as they are geared to the export commodity markets. Quite a lot do use futures etc. for hedging.

People certainly pay more attention to the exchange rate here than they do in the US.
