WTO pushes around Uncle Sam
wnd.com

Sure, there’s a war going on. And there was a Super Bowl, too. But where is the outrage about the World Trade Organization ruling that forces the United States to change its laws or face fines and penalties of up to $4 billion.

In 1997, the European Union claimed that the U.S. practiced unfair trade by allowing U.S. corporations to set up off-shore subsidiaries through which business was conducted in other nations. The practice saved corporations as much as 30 percent on taxes on income earned outside the United States. The WTO has reviewed the complaint, and, unsurprisingly, has ruled in favor of the European Union.

Neither Hitler, Stalin, nor the emperor of Japan could successfully demand that the United States change its laws. But the WTO can.

Our agreement with the WTO says that we will change our laws to conform to its dictates. Now, for the first time, we are being required to do so, and there can be no clearer example of yielding national sovereignty to the United Nations than submission to this agreement, which was promoted by President Clinton and approved by Congress in 1994.
..........................................................................................................................
Throughout most of socialist Europe, tax rates reach 70 percent and more. As high as U.S. taxes are, they are still much lower than in other nations. According to the U.N., this is unfair and Americans should be taxed more heavily in order for our government to provide “social equity.”

Again, we can see here that the philosophy which drives global governance is in direct conflict with the philosophy that drives America. Social equity is not, nor should it be, the responsibility of American government. It is, however, the driving force behind socialist governments, where to achieve social equity government must control all economic development as well as dictating the use of natural resources.

The WTO decision is less violent than the attacks of Sept. 11, but it is no less invasive. If we allow the United Nations or any of its subsidiaries to dictate policy in America, then we will have succumbed to foreign invaders by allowing a foreign power to make our laws. We will have abandoned the principle of government by the consent of the governed. We will have allowed our Constitution to be subverted. We will have betrayed our birthright and reneged on our responsibility to pass the torch of liberty to future generations.
............................................................................................................................
The principle of national sovereignty is much more important than the price of goods. The principle that law must be enacted by elected representatives is at the very core of our system of self-governance. This is the only way that people can grant their consent to be governed or hold the lawmakers accountable by removing them from office.

Congress exceeded its authority and abrogated its responsibility when it agreed to conform American law to meet the requirements of the WTO. We must hold those congressmen accountable, or we, by our silence, are submitting to the principle of global socialist governance.

We cannot have national sovereignty and global governance at the same time. Therefore, America must reject global governance. Our international presence must remain a voluntary option for us and our global neighbors, and we must never fall victim to an international socialist regime – no matter how well it may be disguised.
