"You might want to expand a little on this for people that aren't up so much on EMR."

Hard to expand much. Depending on what the walls are constructed of, you may be kicked down to a slower data rate, or you might lose association. We are more into warehouses and such, 802.11a just doesn't work through walls for us. But that is ok, most of the customers who are interested in 802.11a (that is, the ones who actually have a need for the bandwidth) only need it very locally to the access point. Which is good, because the range that you get the 54 mbits is at a max. less than 20 meters. Can be a lot less in certain environments.

For business use, this isn't a huge problem, they tend to put 1 access point per office, or 1 between two offices. But most homeowners won't want to do that.
