Except that no major sever company uses the AthWipe in any design. It has to do with the Reliability, Accessibility, Scalability thing.

Warms my heart to see the RAS mention, and you have scalability in there, which has taken over for the old serviceability. The "A" is usually for Availability. Accessibility would be for ability to get parts, i.e., all the ones needed to build systems, like CPU chips, chipsets, mobos?

That's almost a verbatim quote from the VAX and SUN guys I had to tackle 15 years ago to get (then) DOS/TEL (now Wintel) machines in.

Now it's Intel substituting BS and FUD for price/performance as it fights to hold on to what it won with qualities it stopped having years ago.
