Yes, I heard about David Howard. To be accurate, he was not fired, he resigned his position to try and quell the uproar. It did take a couple of weeks for the knee jerk reactions to die down, but at that time he was re-hired with the full approval of the formerly angry co-worker after a bit of embarassment over language skills.

It seems that the only person that can't get over it is you and Charlton Heston who lies about the circumstances over and over, but then that reveils his nature anyway. Now the only reason there is still a controversy is that the blatent misrepresentation of facts by the NRA President is not held up to public scorn. If it were the entire incident would take it's rightful place as dual lessons in expanding your vocabulary, and using appropriate words for your audience.
