To send a PacketVideo clip [or anything else with a 0 and 1 in it] across the ocean from some server in China to Sprint in the USA who will then turn it into CDMA 1xEV-DO and send it to your handset.

Fibre is how everything will move around the world. But you konw that so maybe you meant something else.

Even if you could get a DSL line to your house, how many households want to pay an extra $40 a month for services you can only use at home? Only 7% of the current ISP market includes DSL.

The fact that most homes cannot get DSL has a little something to do with that figure.
