True, but there is such a thing as tech snobbishness. This makes sense when you look at the mushroom cloud of telecom bills - $30 per cell phone, $70 for premium cable, $100 for local and long distance, $20 for ISP services. That's over $250 per home including 2 cell phones. Wouldn't it be simpler to disconnect the land lines and enjoy all wireless with the direct benefit of wireless with high speed data for the price of 2 cell phone bills & cable? I would be able to pay Bell Canada $5 a month for unlimited browsing - that would bring my telecom bills to $70 a month for 2 cell phones with voice and internet.

I am a Verizon subscriber (only choice, no Sprint in San Luis Obispo, CA) and need to get a new phone. I've hung on to my QCOM Thin Phone as long as I can and it's finally about to fall apart. In reviewing the available phones on their web site, I can't really tell what future capabilities they have (911-location, data speed). Is there any reference elsewhere on the web I can look at?

In absence of that, does someone know if a phone is available from Verizon that is 1X and 911-location ready? If not, how about just 911-location ready?
