I like the story about when John Wayne undertook to entertain some marines who were recovering from wounds suffered in one of the assaults in the Pacific.

He said two or three dopey superpatriotic things and they booed him off the stage.

I think it was William Manchester, the great war historian, himself very badly wounded, who saw this and wrote about it.

American film makers have reduced WWII to an episode in American history.

anyone else care to minimize Americas role in WW2

what is this, grammar school? sheesh. nobody was minimizing America's contribution to victory in WW2, this started because an american was minimizing everyone elses contribution.

america won. britain won. russia won. together. take away the contribution of any of the three and things might have turned out much different.

AA, I think one of the South American countries ( don't remember which one) declared war on Germany in March 1945 - I guess they wanted to be sure who would win -g- mike
