<font color=red>PC Magazine Feb 26, 2002 Page 60 "Chips off the old Block"

From the conclusion of a 3 page article.

....In Fact, counting the patches listed in Microsoft's own Knowledge Base, you find far more for solving problems occurring with Intel-based CPU's than with competitors' products. And let's not forget the well-publicized Pentium math bug of a few years back. A chip isn't necessarily perfect just because it comes from Intel.
So getting back to your new computer: Should you worry about that "Intel Inside" sticker? In a word, no. Instead, worry about having enough RAM, extra hard drive space, a fast video card, and strong customer support. The compatibility of the processor is on the few constants in the PC universe.

Dan:

OK, you have me. VR-Zone does indeed show the 90nm Clawhammers and Athlon XPs in H1 2003. But, do you believe everything you read. Every other roadmap that I have seen shows the M4000 as a 130nm part, and shipment of 90nm parts starting in H2 2003. AMD shipping 90nm just one year after shipping 130nm is about as probable as them shipping a 130nm bulk silicon Clawhammer processor in Q1 2001.

You guys are incredible. You bandy these AMD roadmaps about as though they were gospel. In reality, AMD hasn't gotten down Duane Avenue to get to Lawrence Expressway yet, and you're talking about the moon. AMD would be better off doing baby step planning instead of 5 year plans.

The 2200+ has slipped a quarter. In November, AMD said 2200+ in Q1. Now appears in Q2. Any thoughts?
