AMD sold 7.8 million CPUs last quarter. Your numbers would indicate a market of 42 million PC CPUs for last quarter.

But according to Dataquest the number is less than 36 million:
With global PC sales bouncing back by 16.7% on the quarter to 35.48 million units in the fourth quarter of 2001, the PC market looks to be on the verge of recovery, according to market research firm Dataquest.

Allocate 2.5 million to account for MP systems and system upgrades and you still only get to 38 million CPUs. At which point AMD's 7.8 million chips is 20.5% of the market.
