I suppose you could be right. But for as long as I can remember, going back to the early 70s, the talk has never changed, "an energy crisis is looming." In fact, I heard talk of oil moving up to $100 a barrel more than once. But it never happens, we seem to have tons of oil. So I guess I'm suspicious because every time I hear "energy crisis," a few months later oil prices go down lower than they were before the crisis. (And I believe oil companies tell the president that we are in the midsts of a crisis) The U.S. is always going to depend on others for oil, sure it can carve up alaska for oil, but that supply is finite too. Why not instead let Russia rape its environment for oil (save alaska) and also, why doesn't any one want to consider perhaps, building cars that go farther on less gas. Doh. I forgot, that doesn't play in to the hands of oil companies.
