That's not correct; you can be sued for libel especially in the case of OJ where the courts found him innocent

Anybody can be sued for anything; the question is whether one can be held liable. I've not had any threatened litigation so far...

All you would need to defend yourself is a preponderance of evidence.

Also he lost a lawsuit death lawsuit about the killings (there is a lower standard of evidence in civil cases) so as long as you can afford a half way decent lawyer you would probably win the case.
