You're not kidding! That kind of defect rate is abysmal. I wonder if your information is accurate, since I can't imagine those foundries are making any kind of money with yields that poor.

I don't comment on Intel's yields so that's your number, not mine but it is very close to the "world class" number I have seen from other manufacturers, IBM most notably. Most people would consider them "world class". I gave AMD the benefit of the doubt when predicting their fab output capacity and used a slightly more conservative number but your number makes their output look even worse. Your numbers say F30 was running at about 1/2 capacity in Q4, at best.
