Interesting theory with merit, but disregards the number of put positions being opened, potentially as hedges (though surely speculators as well). I still think a trading range is developing - too many people looking for a crash. Crashes are rarely, if ever, "expected".

Implies a lower range for vix and friends, at least for a few months...

IMHO. Rob

Sad state of affairs when we hope, and wait to make money off the fears, and panic of others. How much profit will be actually made ? How big will that bounce be ? How long will it last ? Will you time it right, or get sucked into it and lose it all when it rolls over ? Who says the bull will come back any time soon after the last sheep is slaughtered. Don't understand the logic.

If you destroy something, what makes it come right back ? Japan's bubble was decimated. Now 10+ years later and there is still no "Big" rally. Still no recovery in sight. They're all sitting on tons of cash, and gold, but they're not buying stocks. Why is that ? Did they lose faith in the markets, in their banks, and big companies ? Are they afraid to lose what they know is safe for now ? And we, over here, are still telling ourselfs that things are not like it is in Japan. Of course not. This recession will be over this year. Bullshit.

What will we do, here in the States, when the last of our investments vaporize before our eyes. When we look for more cash, and come find mounting credit card bills, and no reserves in the saving's accounts, or under the bed.

Yea. Let's wait for that panic.

Sorry for ranting. Felt good, though.
