Clinton went over there after we bombed their embassy and did a better job as Gore would have done now without stepping on their tongues as this guy does.

This from the speech you posted....

>>"Foreign policy is an important part of our campaigns, of course -- at least for President. But the American voter really is more focused on domestic politics, what's happening at home, as you can imagine. If the economy is soft, like ours is now, they want to know what's going to happen -- what are you doing about the economy? If the economy's good, then they don't talk much about the economy."<<

Maybe Cheney/Bush can call in some Enron execs and have some secret talks on how to fix it before the Daschle walkaway win in 04. Clearly guys like Sec of Army White who are building SW Florida $14 million beachfront homes are the right guys to help out with the Cheney/Bush "economic" strategy. I'm sure they already helped when this crew came up with the $250 million Enron tax giveback that stunk so badly even DeLay gave up on it.

His response to the students was excellent, and demonstrate what a total grasp he has of the geopolitical situation in regard to China's relationship with the U.S.

Thanks for posting the text.

I had a different reaction to the question and answer section.
1) The Chinese speak better English than Bush does.
2) Bush has a lot of trouble answering even the first question....what's the difference between peacefull settlement and peacefull reunification and why doesn't he use peacefull reunification.
3) When he says the US honors treaties, does he think the Chinese are unaware of the ABM treaty?
4) On violent crime and education....has he already forgotten the piss-poor education record of the Dallas-Ft. Worth schools? i.e., a high-school graduation rate half the US average!
5) This one he might have gotten by the Chinese: And I know many have, and more ought to come. It's important for the rhetoric, when we describe what we've seen to be accurate and real. sic, the Chinese might not know how we use the word rhetoric.

All in all, the President's responses to the questions were rhetoric.
