john McCain has a new rally cry. McCain wants to be re-elected.

In my opinion, there is a need for accounting reform with respect to treatment of options regardless of whether or not it helps McCain get re-elected.

Here is 28 page study from the Levy institute that makes a strong case that corporate America has been significantly overstating profits for two decades:

A well supported conclusion on page 16 sounds eerily like John Shannon: In effect, the proliferation of options at a time of stock market boom brought about a massive shift in wealth from shareholders to corporate managers.
