milo - The good news is that Intel has 100% of the CPU business in the Intel based servers and according to AMD's management, AMD had essentially zero percent.

So, milo, what sort of twisted glee can you gain from AMD having zero percent of a $17.2 Billion market and Intel having 100% of the CPU business of that $17.2 billion market?

Milo, Re: "Great news! The overall Intel server market dropped 16.2 percent, from $20.5 billion to $17.2 billion"

Great news for whom? The overall server market ended up falling more than this. Intel ended up gaining market share.

It would have been interesting to see unit numbers, as well as dollar numbers.

I would speculate that units sales were not down much, if at all, but that the 16% revenue drop was due to reduced server ASPs that have resulted for intensifying competition (such as that from AMD's entry into the market).
