With regard to who has the lead in WCDMA chipsets, it is important to remember that only four companies are licensed by QCOM for merchant ASIC sales. The four companies are Phillips, LSI, TI and Prairie Comm. All other 3g licensees are able to manufacture for their own use only, i.e. Mot, Nok, Samsung etc. My understanding, of the terms of the license to merchant vendors, allows QCOM to collect a royalty on both the chipset sale and again on the handset sale.
