>>It was bad enough bringing in culturally-similar Poms, who immediately got themselves into union leadership positions and went on strike every other day.<<

Very good. Gotta love that British work ethic.

Hi, Maurice. Today I finally succumbed to your marketing pitch and exchanged some of my oil-wealth-derived pixelated US $ for a few pounds of New Zealand lamb.

In the process I also got some pixelated frequent-flyer miles via both my credit card and my grocery store card. I've roughly calculated that for every 100 sheep I eat, I can get a free round-trip ticket to Arizona! I'll probably run out of mutton recipes before that happens, but it occurs to me that this could be a good marketing angle in the Mideast. Free trips to Mecca for buying New Zealand sheep! Feel free to pass this idea on to your sheep marketing association. <g>

The job that needs to be done is keeping the economic viability of the countries in question. Lack of young blood.

People in such countries you mention -I have 8+ years of Nigeria and 4 years of Indonesia- aren't barbarians.

Barbarian is their governing elites. See how nice is an Yoruba attending you at the Alamo car rental counter in San Franciso or the nice Indonesian serving at Sheraton Stockholm.

This people just need the legal frame work provided by such dying countries like Australia, Japan or Canada.

I am talking about the job to be done a couple of decades away. Today you may see -just before you switch off at an operation table- a few barbarians helping the surgeon.

In the case of Australia the Indonesians can take it riding a few becaks -rickshaws- if they find only 15 million oldies there.
