jdaasoc, I've never heard an analyst (or a company official <G>) explain this cash flow stream from free merchandise. If the build-out ends, the stock will collapse. That's why HD was experimenting with the hardware store concept. They saw the end of the line with the homecenter expansion and knew they needed another growth avenue.

They couldn't get the experimental hardware concept right, so they're saturating the homecenter retail landscape and pirating from their existing stores.

It is a very short-sighted plan that has implosion written all over it. I give them 2-years before they announce the closing of 250 under-performing stores and a re-structuring complete with lots of one-time items.
