FROM BRIEFING:

13:43 ET WMB Williams Cos weighed down by WCG woes (14.77 -1.53)

Investors backing away from stock after Williams Communications (WCG 0.18 -0.33, -65%) announced that it has expanded its restructuring options to include a negotiated Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Market concerned that prospect of Chapter 11 filing could trigger a downgrade of WMB debt. In the event of a bankruptcy filing by WCG, parent WMB would be on the hook for more than $1 bln in loan guarantees. Today's weakness leaves WMB hovering just above its one-yr low of $14.05 set Feb 6.

Would the shares automatically be worthless? First of all, they haven't filed Chpt 11. Secondly, they state that there would be shareholder dilution. For the shares to be worthless the dilution would have to be infinite. Of course if the management isn't telling the truth then...
Seems to me that at 18cents a share one could put up with quite a bit of dilution/risk!
