No one is trying to promote a litmus test on citizenship, the use was purely descriptive, and easily recognized as such.

Which was, I believe, was filed by the American Atheist organization, in protest against the "One Nation Under God" provision. I would opine that the "live and let live" compact between believers and non-believers is more often upset by the latter. You can hardly expect that a Christian nation (descriptively) would not become rather ticked at this audacious move by a small minority group.
