If the CIA isn't giving Atabay a chunk of money, its upper management should be fired.

It's the cheapest bang for the buck they'll ever get. The talent available is priceless and the pool is deep. And they don't even have to supervise. On second thought, they would, and ruin the whole thing

Political cultures that jail poets are extremely vulnerable to spiritual messages which is what these folk are broadcasting:

I consider this. Satire in Iran seems as unlikely as bobsledding in Jamaica. ''I don't think I've ever heard of an Iranian satirist,'' I say.

''Because I am the only one!'' he says. ''All the rest are dead!''

Eventually the mullahs with blood on their hands will die and the new folk, who will have seen the show, will replace them and won't have the heart to continue the tyranny.

Atabay isn't looking for money in the right places. He ought to get a Redmond, WA, mailing list and send a copy of that article to everyone on it. No comment, no request for funds. Just make sure his address is on it.

A Texas mailing list would probably be good, also.

The Satellite Subversives

You know, Faultline, I should not have read that article. It gives me too much hope.

The problem is you know the Washington Bureaucrats won't give them a dime.
