I am no more concerned about whether or not human beings will continue on the Earth for the next billion years than I am concerned about whether or not I will life to be 250 years old. It is not likely that either will occur and I am comfortable knowing that.

I agree that it is unlikely that you will live to be 250 (although it is possible that some way to delay or stop what we call old age could be discovered), but I disagree with you about it being very unlikely that human beings will continue to live for the next billion years. Unless you count changes by evolution or design (genetic engineering) to make us no longer human beings after we have become sufficiently different from what we are now.
