Couldn't Telephonica of Spain use a GSM1X enabled phone to allow roaming between Spain and Mexico? Would GSM1X make a deal for Pegaso even more attractive to Telephonica?

Why wouldn't Sprint and Verizon want to use GSM1x? That way, they would get the benefits from CDMA (superior voice efficiency and data), but also get global roaming? I think GSM1x makes sense for CDMA carriers and if they decide to upgrade then that's more revenue in qualcomm's pocket.

To me, none is as important as showing the world that indeed money can be made with data. A 9% increase in ARPU is nothing to sneeze at.

What is more interesting is a 9% increase in APRU when only like 200k users have BREW. Imagine if more users had BREW! Data services have generally been well accepted IMO in say Japan or Korea. SMS has taken off in Europe, yet the US lags behind in these areas.
